In 2005 the Kawasaki City Board of Education drew up a ‘Basic Reorganization Plan’ for the City Museum which, while adhering to the basic theme of ‘The City and the People’ that has guided museum activities since its opening, introduced a three-tiered concept to restructure the museum to better suit the changing times.

The activities of the Kawasaki City Museum are divided into eight sections: Archeology, History, Folklore, Art and Literature, Graphics, Photography, Cartoons, Imagery. (source)
